The AKM62GH-LSD2GF-02 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It serves as a rotary actuator for precision positioning and velocity control in packaging machines, pick-and-place modules, and other automated axes that rely on closed-loop feedback. A special connector arrangement allows flexible cable routing in confined installation spaces, and the 138 mm square frame lets the unit mount directly to gearboxes or mechanical interfaces common in medium-power motion stages.
This motor delivers a continuous stall torque of 11.9 N·m while drawing 4.9 Arms at the windings, providing steady mechanical output without overheating the 4.13 Ω copper circuit. With a 400 V AC supply, the shaft can maintain 1800 rpm at a rated load of 10.4 N·m. The back-EMF constant is 158.7 Vrms/kRPM, which helps the drive maintain sufficient voltage margin during regenerative events. Ten rotor poles interact with a G winding to reach these operating values. The 31.7 mH phase inductance filters high-frequency current ripple that might otherwise increase electrical losses. Position feedback is provided by an EKM36 single-cable encoder that communicates through the HIPERFACE DSL interface, providing 128 signal lines and 4,096 absolute turns so the controller can track rotor position.
For short bursts, the motor can generate 29.9 N·m of peak torque by allowing up to 14.7 Arms, which supports rapid indexing and helps overcome breakaway friction. The torque constant of 2.43 N·m/Arms provides a direct relationship between commanded current and produced torque, simplifying control-loop adjustment. A rotor inertia of 0.00169 kg·m², combined with rotor length index 2, supports responsive acceleration without excessively amplifying mechanical resonance. The EKM36 sensor accounts for the motor’s pole count so that each electrical cycle remains aligned with physical rotor movement. Its single-cable connection carries feedback data through the motor interface, reducing the number of separate cable runs required between the motor and drive.
