Product Description:
The AKM54S-ASCSEN-02 is a brushless synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for integration with digital servo drives so automated machinery can position loads with low settling times and repeatable accuracy. A permanent-magnet rotor and precision stator windings convert commanded current into torque, allowing motion controllers to regulate speed, position, or force. The motor can operate in packaging equipment, electronic assembly stations, and material-handling gantries that require controlled rotary motion.
A factory-installed special brake keeps the shaft immobilized when power is removed, supporting vertical-axis operation. Electrical and feedback leads are routed through two SpeedTec-ready connectors. Their keyed arrangement shortens installation time and helps prevent pinout errors when the motor is connected to a compatible drive. The mounting face uses an IEC flange with accuracy class N, ensuring concentric alignment with gearboxes or load couplings without additional shimming. The square housing has a 108 mm frame dimension, providing a standardized mechanical envelope for integration into compatible machinery. This frame size provides space for the active motor components while keeping the housing compact enough for applications with limited mounting clearance.
The shaft is machined with a special shaft detail that mates with customer-specific couplers and minimizes backlash under reversing loads. Torque is produced by a special winding that tailors back electromotive force and current ratings for drives operating at intermediate bus voltages. The winding configuration allows the electrical characteristics of the motor to suit the intended operating range without changing the external frame dimensions. Inside the motor, a rotor length index of 4 increases the active magnetic core volume, which raises continuous torque while preserving the established housing size. The brake selection supports stationary load retention, while the customized shaft interface provides a secure connection to the driven mechanism. These features allow the motor to accommodate specialized coupling, voltage, and holding requirements within its standardized mounting envelope.
