The introduction of AKM series motors manufactured by Kollmorgen has a wide range of servo motors that can handle virtually anything on the industrial floor. Kollmorgen AKM series motors support quick co-engineering to realize modifications specially meant for a specific application. Co-engineered modifications reduce the time it takes to set-up a servo system and at the same time enhances the performance of the servo system. To unleash their full potential, AKM motors are designed to be used with Kollmorgen AKD series drives.

The AKM54N-ACC2R-00 is a brushless servo motor designed and manufactured by Kollmorgen. It belongs to the AKM family of motors. Motors in this family are specially designed with an outstanding torque density and a high dynamic response. For optimum heat regulation inside its frame, the AKM54N-ACC2R-00 has a black powder coating on its casing to facilitate maximum heat dissipation through the casing. Apart from a black-coated casing, the motor has a thermal sensor in its winding. The sensor is connected to the interfaced drive to help regulate the temperature around the windings. Note that the motor is capable of performing at its best when operated within its rated temperature range. The motor has an IEC rated frame measuring 108 millimeters.

The Kollmorgen AKM54N-ACC2R-00 has a 24 Volts DC holding brake allowing it to be used with applications that require a guaranteed steady shaft when the motor is at standstill. With a resolver for feedback, the motor can be deployed in environments with relatively high levels of shocks, vibrations, and electrical disturbances and still provide accurate positioning. Connections to the motor are made through angular rotatable motor-mounted connectors that have an ingress protection rating of IP 65.
