The AKM54L-ANCNEM-00 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This compact rotary actuator converts current from a compatible servo amplifier into controlled torque and speed. It is intended for motion systems that require accurate positioning, responsive acceleration, and stable speed regulation. Typical applications include positioning tables, pick-and-place heads, packaging axes, assembly equipment, and other automated machinery with repetitive motion cycles.
The motor is supplied with no integrated brake, so an external clamp or drive-generated holding torque is required when power is removed. The rear housing has two SpeedTec-ready connectors that separate the power and feedback wiring. Their plug-and-twist design supports quick connection while maintaining orderly cable routing and consistent shielding around sensitive feedback conductors. The housing uses an IEC flange with accuracy class N, providing a standardized pilot interface and concentric alignment with compatible IEC-pattern gearboxes and mounting surfaces. A frame side length of 108 mm provides the stator with sufficient iron volume for the required power density while preserving a compact mounting footprint. Output torque is transmitted through a smooth shaft, which avoids keyway stress concentrations and supports clamp-style couplings in applications with frequent acceleration and deceleration.
The electromagnetic stack uses rotor length index 4, corresponding to the fourth incremental lamination depth available for this frame size. The additional active length increases continuous torque capacity without changing the dimensions of the front mounting face. Coil geometry follows winding designation L, which is intended for medium bus voltages and demanding current cycles. Its lower phase resistance helps limit copper losses when the motor experiences high peak currents during rapid acceleration. Compatibility with digital servo drives supports closed-loop control of shaft position, velocity, and torque, while thermal sensor integration allows the drive system to monitor motor temperature during operation. These monitoring functions help the controller apply suitable current limits when winding temperature approaches the permitted operating range.
