The AKM54K-ANCNEM-00 synchronous servo motor is manufactured by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This brushless AC unit is intended for closed-loop positioning and velocity control in industrial automation platforms such as pick-and-place gantries, packaging lines, and indexing tables. When connected to a compatible servo drive, the motor converts regulated electrical current into controlled rotary torque and speed. Its permanent-magnet design supports rapid response and repeatable motion while avoiding the fluid systems required by hydraulic or pneumatic actuators. Electronic commutation also eliminates brushes that could otherwise introduce mechanical wear and require periodic maintenance.
The housing has a 108 mm frame size, so its bolt circle and pilot diameter match IEC metric gearheads with a comparable footprint. At the front, an IEC flange with accuracy class N provides the concentricity needed for medium-precision couplings without additional shimming. Electrical terminations use two SpeedTec-ready connectors, allowing keyed push-twist locking without specialized tools. The connector arrangement helps simplify cable attachment while maintaining the motor’s ingress protection after the cables are correctly installed. The motor is supplied without a brake, which eliminates residual brake drag and reduces the overall housing length. Applications that require holding torque when power is removed must use a static load counterbalance, an external clamp, or another suitable holding mechanism.
The magnetic stack uses rotor length index 4, providing a midrange core length that balances thermal mass with dynamic acceleration. Output power is transmitted through a smooth shaft, so friction-fit hubs or clamping couplings transfer torque without relying on a keyway. The stator uses winding code K, with electrical characteristics suited to compatible drives operating at moderate DC-bus voltages while supplying high peak current. Proper drive parameter settings allow the controller to regulate current according to the motor’s resistance, inductance, and thermal behavior. The shaft interface is appropriate for couplings that apply uniform clamping pressure around the shaft circumference. Correct alignment of the flange, shaft, and connected load helps limit bearing stress and supports stable positioning during repeated acceleration and deceleration cycles.
