Product Description:
The AKM52S-HCFNR-02 is a permanent-magnet servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It interfaces with a compatible drive to produce closed-loop rotary torque and support precise velocity and position control. The motor is suitable for automated packaging lines, electronic cam systems, and light machine tools that require responsive, repeatable motion.
The housing has a square frame dimension of 108 mm, allowing the motor to mount directly to medium-sized gearboxes or indexers without additional adapter plates. Rotor length index 2 indicates a mid-stack magnetic core that balances continuous torque with low inertia for rapid movement. Position feedback is supplied by a resolver, a rugged analog transducer that tolerates vibration and temperature changes while allowing the drive to perform accurate commutation. The electrical resolution uses 2 poles to provide rotor angle information throughout each mechanical revolution. The resolver is a single-turn inductive device, so absolute angular position is available over one complete turn without optical coding. Output torque is transmitted through a shaft with a keyway, providing positive engagement with pulleys, couplings, or gears and preventing slippage during repeated start-and-stop cycles.
For installations with limited space, the mounting face uses Alternative Flange Variant H, which relocates the pilot diameter and mounting holes to provide clearance around adjacent components. The feedback assembly has a Size 10/15/21 format, maintaining a connector arrangement compatible with the corresponding Kollmorgen sensor format. Coil data use a special winding intended for nonstandard voltage or speed requirements when paired with an appropriate amplifier. The motor is supplied without a brake, so an external clamp or drive-generated holding torque is required to secure the load when power is removed. Compatible cabling must support the resolver signals and the selected winding characteristics. Proper shaft coupling alignment helps prevent excessive bearing loads during operation.
