Product Description:
The AKM52E-AND2CA-00 is a brushless synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It supplies tightly regulated rotary motion for automated packaging, material-handling, and pick-and-place stations where fast indexing and repeatable positioning are critical. A compact frame, an IEC-pattern flange, and a consolidated hybrid connector simplify mechanical installation and cabinet wiring. The permanent-magnet rotor supports responsive torque control, while electronic commutation allows the connected servo drive to regulate speed and position without brushes or other mechanical switching components.
A built-in 24 V holding brake locks the rotor whenever control power is absent, protecting vertical or overhung axes from unwanted back-driving. Power, feedback, and protective ground conductors run through a single 1 i-tec Hybrid or SpeedTec Ready Hybrid connector, so only one molded lead must be routed to the drive. The motor uses winding designation E and rotor length index 2, providing mid-range torque while keeping inertia low for quick acceleration. Position data are supplied by the SFD3 inductive feedback system. Its resolver electronics report the absolute angle within one revolution through a single-turn inductive sensor that resists dust, oil, and shaft vibration. The square housing has a 108 mm frame dimension, allowing installation in machine layouts designed for IEC motors of the same size.
The feedback connection requires only 2 feedback lines to carry differential sine-cosine signals, minimizing cable bulk and improving resistance to electrical noise. The transducer body follows the Size 10/15/21 mechanical standard, providing compatibility with Kollmorgen encoder options that use the same form factor. Mounting uses an IEC flange with accuracy N, ensuring that runout and concentricity remain within general servo tolerances during high-speed operation. Output torque is transferred through a smooth shaft, which accommodates compression couplings or planetary gearheads where a keyway is unnecessary. This shaft design also avoids the stress concentration associated with a machined keyway and supports precise coupling alignment. The flange and shaft arrangement allows the motor to connect directly to suitable gearboxes, pulleys, or rigid couplings while maintaining controlled rotary motion under changing loads.
