The AKM51E-CCDNCA-01 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen in the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for integration into industrial pick-and-place stations, packaging lines, and light machine tools, it delivers closed-loop speed and position control that supports precise, repeatable motion profiles across automated equipment. The internal winding designation E indicates resistance and inductance suited to 230 V-class inverters.
The motor is supplied without a brake, so holding torque during power-off must be provided by the drive or an external clamp. A single i-tec Hybrid or SpeedTec Ready Hybrid connector carries power, feedback, and protective earth connections, simplifying cabinet wiring. The square housing measures 108 mm across the frame, allowing direct replacement of legacy AKM5 units without altering the mounting centers. Shaft torque is transmitted through a keyway, ensuring positive engagement with couplings or pulleys. Rotor position is monitored by the SFD3 feedback system. Its two-line digital signal supplies absolute angle and real-time velocity data to the drive.
Position data is delivered through a single-turn inductive measurement system, eliminating batteries and simplifying homing after power loss. The sensing package follows the Size 10/15/21 format, so standard SFD3 mating leads connect without adapters. For mounting, the motor carries alternative flange variant C, retaining the Kollmorgen pilot diameter while shifting the bolt circle to match IEC patterns. The magnetic stack uses rotor length index 1, the shortest available in the AKM5E range. This low-inertia rotor accelerates rapidly on axes with modest loads and supports responsive changes in speed. The compact stack also limits the motor’s axial footprint where installation space is restricted.
