Product Description:

The AKM44S-SSC2R-02 is a synchronous servomotor in the AKM series manufactured by Kollmorgen. It is a brushless DC motor intended for demanding servo applications. When the device is combined with a digital servo amplifier from Kollmorgen, it is highly apt for positioning tasks in machine tools, industrial robots, transfer lines, and the like with high requirements for stability and dynamics. The temperature sensors in the stator monitor the temperature of the winding and it is signaled via an electrically isolated thermistor. The device is enameled in matt black. The finish isn’t resistant to solvents. The AKM servomotor has a spring applied brake (24V DC) integrated into it. If the servo amplifier doesn’t directly control the holding brake, additional wiring is required. In this case, the applications department of the manufacturer should be consulted beforehand. To enable a personal safe operation of the holding brake, an additional contact in the braking circuit and an anti-surge device for the brake are required. It should be noted that the built-in holding brake of the servomotor doesn’t ensure functional safety. Loads hanging along the vertical axes need an extra, external mechanical brake for personnel safety. The servomotor is precision equipment. The shaft and flange are vulnerable during assembly and storage, so brute force should be avoided. Precision demands delicacy. The user should use the locking thread to tighten up gear wheels, couplings, or pulley wheels to warm up the components of the drive, as and when required. Use of force or blows will cause damage to the shaft and the bearings. Only personnel qualified and trained in electrical engineering should wire up the device. The motor must be de-energized during assembly and wiring.
