Product Description:
The AKM44S-SSC2R is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for industrial automation, it converts three-phase drive current into accurately regulated torque so machine axes can follow motion profiles with tight positional accuracy. This model supports rapid acceleration in compact packaging equipment, as well as in electronic assembly, labeling stations, and light material-handling mechanisms. Its compact motor format makes it suitable for installations where motion performance must be maintained without giving up valuable machine space.
The frame dimension of 84 mm sets the square size of the housing and affects both mounting clearance and heat dissipation. Inside that envelope, a rotor length index 4 increases active magnetic length to support higher continuous torque without enlarging the outer footprint. Power, feedback, and brake leads exit through two SpeedTec Ready connectors, which use a push-and-turn style connection that helps simplify routing in confined spaces. Holding position during an emergency stop is handled by a 24 V holding brake, which clamps the rotor when supply voltage is removed. To suit unusual bus voltages or response requirements, the motor uses a special winding that supports application-specific electrical matching while preserving stable current control.
The special flange departs from the standard pilot and bolt circle, allowing direct attachment to proprietary mounting plates without adapter spacers. Torque is transmitted through a special shaft that fits non-keyed couplings and helps limit backlash during reversing motion. These custom interface features help the motor fit machinery where standard mechanical dimensions would require extra brackets, longer shafts, or additional alignment parts. Cable exit and brake functions remain concentrated at the motor body, which helps preserve a compact machine layout and keeps surrounding hardware to a minimum.
