Product Description:
The AKM44J-EKC22-00 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for cyclic positioning and velocity-control tasks, the motor converts electrical energy from a matched drive into regulated torque, enabling coordinated motion in packaging stations, pick-and-place modules, and other industrial automation axes. Its compact housing supports rapid acceleration, while the internal windings allow current to rise quickly in response to drive commands. This electrical response helps a closed-loop system reach commanded positions with minimal following error during repetitive motion cycles.
To secure static loads, the unit carries a 24 V holding brake that clamps the rotor whenever brake power is removed. The motor uses two SpeedTec-ready connectors for power and feedback connections, and their push-latch interfaces simplify cable attachment. Rotor angle is monitored by a Comcoder, which provides digital incremental data at a native resolution of 2048 lines per revolution. After four-edge decoding, the drive receives 8,192 counts per revolution, supporting precise position and velocity feedback. The square housing has a width of 84 mm and follows common IEC mounting patterns. This format allows the motor to be attached directly to compatible gearboxes or machine plates without adapter rings.
The shaft has an open keyway, providing positive torque transfer to pulleys or couplings while allowing straightforward coupling installation and removal. A rotor length index of 4 extends the active lamination stack to provide greater continuous torque capacity. Absolute position within each revolution is supplied by the optical single-turn code disk identified as EPC 15T. The motor uses the Kollmorgen J winding, whose resistance, inductance, and back-electromotive-force characteristics match 230 VAC-class servo drives. These electrical characteristics help the matched drive regulate current accurately while keeping the winding temperature within the motor’s insulation limits during operation.
