The AKM44J-ANSNGF-02 is an AC synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Coupled with a compatible digital drive, it converts commanded phase currents into controlled torque and speed, enabling tight position loops in automated machinery. Its rare-earth magnet rotor and compact envelope support fast acceleration in machine tools, pick-and-place robots, and high-speed packaging lines where repeatable motion and short cycle times are essential.
The motor is supplied without a brake, so static holding torque must be provided by external clamping or the drive itself when power is off. All power and feedback conductors exit through a special connector arrangement, which simplifies cable routing in dense control cabinets. Rotor position is measured at 128 lines per revolution before interpolation, providing base angular resolution suitable for medium-precision axes. This signal comes from a HIPERFACE DSL encoder that carries power and digital feedback on one cable, reducing the number of required interfaces. The position sensor provides multi-turn optical counting, so the absolute shaft angle is retained across power cycles without batteries. This capability allows the machine to restart without performing a complete homing routine.
The mechanical interface uses an IEC flange with accuracy class N, and the square frame dimension of 84 mm sets the outer width and height for straightforward mounting to gearboxes or brackets. A rotor length index of 4 extends the magnetic stack to increase continuous torque while keeping the flange size unchanged. The feedback electronics use code EKM36, supporting parameter compatibility with standard Kollmorgen drives. Output power is delivered through a smooth shaft, permitting zero-backlash clamp couplings and minimizing pulley wear. Winding designation J adjusts the phase resistance for medium DC-bus voltages used by common industrial controllers. The IEC mounting interface also helps maintain accurate shaft alignment when the motor is connected directly to a gearbox or machine assembly.
