Product Description:
The AKM44G-BKMN2-00 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop motion axes in packaging equipment, pick-and-place gantries, and other automation stations that require precise speed and position control. Its compact stator windings and rare-earth magnets support rapid torque changes with accurate response during start-stop cycles. This layout helps keep motor inertia and installation space low on multi-axis equipment where closely spaced axes must react quickly to changing commands. It can also be used on indexing tables and feeder axes where fast correction of load changes is needed during repetitive motion.
The mechanical interface uses a NEMA flange, so the housing bolts directly to common U.S. mounting patterns without adapter plates. A frame width of 84 mm sets the cross-sectional size, and the rotor length index of 4 increases the active magnetic length for higher peak torque than shorter motors in the same frame. Power is transmitted through an open keyway shaft, which provides a positive drive surface that helps resist slippage during acceleration and reversal. Electrical behavior follows winding code G, which indicates the resistance, inductance, and voltage constant used when matching the motor with compatible Kollmorgen drives.
Position feedback is delivered at 2048 lines/rev by a Comcoder, which combines incremental encoder signals with commutation data in one feedback device. Its single-turn optical design returns absolute rotor position within one revolution, so the drive can establish position at startup without a homing move. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so a vertical axis or suspended load must be held by drive torque or an external mechanical device when power is removed. EPC 15T signal formatting and the standard customization level support integration with AKD and other compatible drive platforms.
