The AKM44E-EKMNR-00 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It provides commanded torque and speed for automated axes in packaging, electronics assembly, and material-handling cells, connecting directly to digital drives through its feedback interface. The motor fits the modular AKM platform, allowing its electrical characteristics, mechanical geometry, and feedback type to suit a wide range of machine layouts while maintaining consistent mounting surfaces and connector locations.
The motor is supplied without a brake, so holding torque during power loss must be provided by the drive or an external locking device. Its square frame measures 84 mm across, supporting IEC and NEMA adapter plates while keeping the mass low for fast dynamic response. The feedback system uses 2 poles and a primary resolver that provides analog sine-cosine position signals with strong resistance to electrical noise. The resolver has a Size 10/15/21 housing, allowing a consistent connector orientation and compatible cable routing within the AKM motor platform.
The position device provides single-turn inductive measurement, reporting the shaft position within one mechanical revolution. Because it does not retain a position count across multiple revolutions, the axis may require a homing routine after startup. The motor uses the standard configuration, with the shaft, flange, and feedback components following the base design for this model. Its magnetic stack uses rotor length index 4, which provides greater continuous torque than shorter rotor options without changing the frame size. Output torque is transmitted through an open keyway machined into the shaft, providing positive engagement with couplings and pulleys. Winding designation E matches the phase impedance and back EMF to drives that support the applicable voltage class, allowing commanded current to produce consistent mechanical output.
