Product Description:
The AKM43K-SSCNEH03 is a rotary actuator built by Kollmorgen and supplied under the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Intended for pairing with Kollmorgen digital drives, the motor converts stator current into tightly regulated torque so plant controllers can position loads with high dynamic accuracy. Its permanent-magnet construction supports responsive torque production without requiring rotor excitation. The motor’s low inertia supports rapid acceleration and deceleration during short operating cycles. Its encoder compatibility makes it suitable for indexing tables, form-fill-seal stations, and articulated pick-and-place heads where repeatable speed and position are required.
At the mechanical interface, the square frame measures 84 mm, a size that balances installation footprint with available thermal surface area. The active magnetic stack follows rotor length index 3, which increases continuous torque relative to shorter cores without extending the frame width. A special flange machining pattern replaces the standard AKM pilot, permitting direct attachment to custom gearboxes or machine plates. Electrical and feedback terminations are handled through two SpeedTec-ready connectors. These keyed, quarter-turn plugs simplify cable attachment while maintaining a sealed connection at each interface. Because the unit is supplied without a brake, any requirement to hold the load in place must be met by the drive’s current loop or an external mechanical lock. This arrangement is appropriate for horizontal axes and other applications in which a separate holding device can be installed when needed.
The drive end uses a special shaft geometry that differs from the common keyed variant, enabling connection to couplings or hollow-shaft encoders selected for the machine. Electromagnetic performance is based on winding designation K, a coil set selected for nominal bus voltages commonly used in 230 V-class servo systems. The winding works with a compatible digital drive to regulate current during acceleration, steady-speed operation, and controlled deceleration. Integrated feedback compatibility allows the connected drive to monitor motion and correct position or speed errors during operation. Thermal sensor compatibility also allows motor temperature data to be incorporated into the drive’s protective monitoring functions. Appropriate mounting alignment, cable routing, and external load support help prevent unnecessary stress on the shaft, flange, and electrical connectors.
