The AKM42S-GCSN2-02 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen and supplied under the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop motion axes where tight position and velocity regulation are required, such as pick-and-place gantries or packaging stations. By coupling the rotor to a precision drive and sending feedback to a matching controller, the unit converts electrical commands into repeatable rotary movement for industrial automation tasks. This arrangement allows the controller to correct motion in response to changing loads while maintaining the commanded speed or position.
The motor’s feedback circuit has a resolution of 2048 lines/rev and reports absolute shaft position through a Comcoder interface. The sensing element uses a single-turn optical design, so the controller receives a unique position value within each shaft revolution without relying on multi-turn counting. Signal formatting follows the EPC 15T protocol, allowing direct compatibility with suitable Kollmorgen drives.
