Kollmorgen’s AKM42J-ACC2C-01 is a brushless AC servo motor from the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It converts drive current into controlled torque for indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and other precision tasks in industrial automation. The motor combines permanent-magnet excitation with stator windings that support rapid acceleration, giving automated equipment a compact rotary actuator for tightly controlled motion. As a closed-loop motor, it returns position data to the drive so speed, torque, and shaft location stay synchronized with the machine cycle. That arrangement helps the drive respond quickly to changing loads during starts, stops, and short indexing moves.
The integrated 24 V holding brake locks the rotor when control power is removed, which helps prevent load drift on vertical or static axes. The motor uses two SpeedTec Ready connectors, one for power and one for feedback, and the quarter-turn bayonet style supports secure attachment during repeated cable handling. Separating the motor and feedback connections also helps keep power conductors apart from low-level signal paths. A factory-installed shaft seal surrounds the output journal to help maintain enclosure protection at the shaft exit. Position information is transmitted over 4 lines through the proprietary SFD interface, giving the drive commutation data and status information in real time.
The feedback system is single-turn inductive, so the drive tracks one mechanical revolution without relying on optical disks or batteries. An 84 mm frame and IEC flange geometry support straightforward integration into machines that use the same bolt circle and pilot fit. Torque is transferred through a keyway shaft, which is commonly used for rigid couplings to pulleys or pinions. Thermal behavior and electrical output are set by the J winding, while the rotor length index 2 indicates the active stack length used in this motor size. This combination suits servo axes that require compact mounting dimensions, direct coupling, and repeatable motion control.
