Product Description:
Kollmorgen’s AKM42G-GCD2CA-00 is a brushless servo motor developed for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. The motor is used in industrial automation to provide precise torque and velocity control for indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and packaging machinery. Its electrical commutation, compact frame, and feedback interface support real-time closed-loop positioning when the motor is paired with a compatible Kollmorgen drive. The design accommodates applications that require fast acceleration, limited maintenance, and frequent operating cycles.
For secure load holding, the motor incorporates a 24 V holding brake that clamps the shaft whenever power is removed. Power, signal, and brake conductors are routed through a single i-tec Hybrid or SpeedTec Ready Hybrid connector, reducing the amount of wiring required between the motor and drive. Position data is returned to the drive through the SFD3 resolver system, which uses two communication lines and supports real-time interpolation. The feedback architecture uses single-turn inductive sensing and has a Size 10/15/21 mechanical envelope. This feedback method helps the drive maintain stable commutation in environments with electrical noise. Diagnostic status can be polled through the same communication lines without requiring an additional cable harness.
The motor has an alternative flange, Variant G, which allows the 84 mm square frame to align with custom mounting patterns. Output torque is transmitted through a shaft with a keyway, providing positive engagement with pulleys, couplings, or gearboxes. The internal magnetic stack uses Rotor Length Index 2 to provide the rotor length associated with this model. Its stator uses Winding Designation G, providing the electrical characteristics required by compatible drives. The flange and shaft arrangement support direct integration with machinery that requires rigid motor alignment and secure torque transfer.
