Product Description:
The AKM42G-EKCNC-00 is a brushless synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen and supplied in the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It delivers closed-loop rotary motion for automation equipment, allowing machine controllers to command accurate speed, torque, and position on pick-and-place heads, indexing tables, or light conveyor stations. Electrical commutation is handled electronically, so the motor maintains consistent torque density across its speed range. This performance supports the rapid acceleration and repeatable stops required in modern production cells.
This model is supplied without a brake, so any load holding must be managed by external mechanics or continuous drive torque. Power and feedback cabling is routed through two SpeedTec-ready connectors that use a quarter-turn lock to shorten installation time and ensure correct pin mating. The frame measures 84 mm across the square flange, allowing the motor to fit inside compact machine frames while still accommodating a moderate rotor diameter. Position data travels over the Kollmorgen SFD serial channel, which combines absolute and incremental information for precise control loops. The encoder uses a single-turn inductive sensing element, eliminating gears and optical discs so that resolution remains stable in high-cycle environments.
The feedback channel exports 4 lines of incremental signals in addition to the serial word, giving drives a high-frequency edge count for precise positioning. Magnetic stack depth is indicated by rotor length index 2, a mid-length configuration that balances inertia against continuous torque capability. Mechanical coupling is provided by an open keyway on the shaft, delivering positive engagement with pulleys, pinions, or rigid couplings. The keyway helps prevent relative rotation between the shaft and a properly fitted driven component under changing loads. The motor uses winding designation G, which provides resistance and inductance values suited to standard Kollmorgen drives for 230 V-class bus voltages. Matching the motor winding to a compatible drive supports stable current regulation during acceleration, steady-speed operation, and controlled deceleration.
