Internal Product Review
The AKM42G-EKC2C-00 is a Kollmorgen AKM synchronous servo motor built with an open keyway shaft. The SFD feedback system and 24V holding brake make the motor well suited for precise motion axes that need stable positioning and secure stopping. Dual SpeedTec Ready connectors support clean integration and complete a very capable servo motor package.

Product Description:
The AKM42G-EKC2C-00 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It uses permanent-magnet excitation and closed-loop feedback to convert drive current into tightly regulated rotary motion. This arrangement supports accurate speed control and repeatable positioning in indexing tables, gantry axes, and packaging stations. Fast response and stable feedback help the motor follow short move profiles during repetitive machine cycles without excessive overshoot.
Winding designation G matches the motor's phase characteristics to medium bus voltages. The square housing measures 84 mm across, allowing the motor to fit common flange patterns in compact axis layouts. Rotor length index 2 provides a moderate inertia level, which helps balance acceleration response with smooth load handling. A factory-installed 24 V holding brake secures the shaft when power is removed, which is useful on vertical axes or whenever the load must remain stationary. For wiring, two SpeedTec Ready connectors provide separate power and signal connections with quarter-turn locking. Torque is transmitted through an open keyway, so keyed couplings or pulleys can be mounted directly.
On the control side, position data is supplied by the SFD encoder, and its digital channel carries 4 lines of incremental and absolute information to the drive. The sensing element is single-turn inductive, which avoids optical disks and reduces sensitivity to dust or oil inside the machine area. Encoder hardware follows the Size 10/15/21 envelope, helping maintain connector and cable compatibility within the family. The motor ships in the Standard customization level, so the frame, sealing, and finish follow the regular production configuration. This feedback arrangement supports stable commutation and consistent position tracking during repeated start-stop cycles under varying load conditions.
