Product Description:
The AKM42G-BKCN2-01 is a Kollmorgen servo motor in the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This rotary unit provides closed-loop torque and speed control for automation tasks such as indexing tables, pick-and-place heads, and light conveyor zones. Its permanent-magnet rotor and concentrated windings help the drive respond quickly to command changes, which supports smooth acceleration and stable low-speed operation. It is intended for systems that need precise starts, stops, and repeated speed changes during normal cycling.
The stator uses winding G, which gives the motor electrical characteristics suited for standard AKD drives. The motor is supplied without a brake, which reduces axial length and inertia where passive load holding is not required. Power and feedback exit through two SpeedTec Ready connectors, and these keyed connections support quick, tool-free attachment while helping keep cable routing organized. The housing has an 84 mm frame dimension, giving the motor a predictable footprint and thermal mass for this size class. Mounting is through a NEMA flange, so it can be installed on equipment that uses the same hole circle. An integral shaft seal helps limit contaminant ingress at the shaft, and rotor length index 2 keeps torque output and overall mass in balance for general automation duty.
Position information is generated by a Comcoder that delivers 2048 lines/rev of incremental data, giving the drive fine feedback for smooth velocity control and accurate position updates. The feedback package is identified as EPC 15T and uses a single-turn optical encoder format, so position is tracked over one mechanical revolution without extra gearing or battery support. The output shaft has an open keyway, which allows positive torque transmission to couplings or pulleys while keeping the mechanical interface straightforward. This arrangement supports secure power transfer to driven components and fits common motion assemblies that use keyed shaft connections.
