The AKM42G-ANSNGF-02 is a permanent-magnet synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. The unit is intended for closed-loop motion axes where rapid speed control and precise positioning are required in industrial automation, such as pick-and-place heads or small gantry axes. It works as the electromechanical drive element, converting inverter current into torque on the load while delivering the high dynamic response associated with the AKM family. Its compact housing promotes straightforward integration into multi-axis assemblies.
The motor frame measures 84 mm, giving the square outside dimension that mates with equipment mounting faces. An IEC flange with accuracy class N preserves concentricity, helping maintain shaft alignment during coupling. Because the stator uses winding code G, its thermal characteristics and torque constant match drives calibrated for that electrical class. The unit is supplied without a brake, so a mechanical holding device must be provided if static load retention is required. Power and feedback exit through a special connector arrangement, easing cable routing in cramped installations while retaining housing sealing.
Position information is captured by an EKM36 feedback unit that uses a HIPERFACE DSL encoder interface for single-cable communication with compatible servo drives. Its native granularity of 128 lines/rev combines with interpolation in the drive to provide high digital resolution across the full speed range. The encoder also provides optical multi-turn tracking, so absolute position is retained through 4,096 mechanical revolutions without external batteries. Single-cable feedback reduces the number of separate motor connections and supports compact cable routing through moving machine structures. The retained absolute position can shorten startup routines because the controller does not need to establish the axis location from an external reference.
