Product Description:
The AKM42E-EKCNC-00 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for CNC tables, pick-and-place heads, and indexing modules, the unit converts drive current into precisely regulated mechanical motion. Its rare-earth magnet stack, laminated steel core, and carefully balanced rotor allow machine axes to reach commanded positions with minimal overshoot. The motor belongs to a modular family that shares mounting footprints, feedback formats, and connector layouts, allowing machine builders to scale torque or speed without redesigning housings or couplings.
The electrical interface uses two SPEEDTEC-ready connectors that lock with a quarter turn and route power separately from feedback signals. The rotor is supplied without a brake, so static holding torque must come from drive excitation or an external clamp. Position data travel over four lines using the SFD encoder protocol, supporting high-bandwidth commutation feedback. An integrated single-turn inductive encoder eliminates the need for batteries and resists magnetic interference. Winding designation E provides phase resistance and inductance characteristics suited to medium bus voltages. The standard customization level supports use in applications that do not require special mechanical or electrical modifications.
The feedback housing uses the Size 10/15/21 dimensional code, allowing the feedback device and connector envelope to align with compatible AKM models. The square frame measures 84 mm across, permitting attachment to suitable IEC gearheads or mounting brackets. The magnetic stack corresponds to rotor length index 2, balancing torque output and rotor mass for high-duty operating cycles. Output torque reaches the load through an open-keyway shaft, which provides positive engagement with pulleys or couplings and helps prevent slippage during repeated starts and stops. The keyway supports mechanically secured connections where a smooth shaft and clamping coupling would not provide the preferred engagement method.
