Product Description:
The AKM42E-ANC2R-01 is a servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. As a brushless AC unit, it converts drive output into controlled torque and speed for positioning axes, pick-and-place modules, and packaging stations. The motor’s compact frame and integrated feedback make it suitable for closed-loop motion tasks that require repeatable accuracy and fast dynamic response. Electronic commutation eliminates the brushes used in conventional motors, reducing mechanical wear during frequent acceleration and deceleration cycles.
Power and signal entry are provided through two SpeedTec-ready connectors, which use a keyed design to shorten installation time and guard against wiring errors. For load holding, the motor includes a 24 V holding brake that keeps the shaft locked when power to the drive is removed. Rotor position is reported by a resolver that delivers analog sine-cosine signals to the connected servo drive. The feedback system uses two poles and a single-turn inductive measurement, providing absolute position within each mechanical revolution without external batteries. These feedback signals allow the drive to manage commutation and velocity control with minimal latency. The brake can secure a stationary load while the resolver continues to provide the position information required when normal operation resumes.
A shaft seal helps prevent lubricant from adjacent gearboxes and contaminants from entering the motor housing. The feedback assembly conforms to Size 10/15/21, matching the designated resolver housing dimensions. The mounting face follows IEC accuracy N tolerances to align the motor concentrically with a compatible gearhead. The square front measures 84 mm, keeping the motor compact enough for closely spaced multi-axis installations. A smooth shaft supports couplings that transfer torque through a friction fit rather than a keyway. The rotor has a length index of 2, indicating the active stack height used for this model. Winding designation E groups the applicable phase resistance and inductance values so the servo drive can apply the appropriate current limits. This winding arrangement supports controlled current delivery throughout changes in speed and load without requiring additional motor characterization at the installation site.
