The AKM42E-ACCNDA-0W is a brushless synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop motion systems, this model delivers repeatable positioning and velocity control in automated assembly, material handling, and light machine-tool axes. Its housing follows an IEC flange pattern, and the motor interfaces with Kollmorgen drives through SpeedTec connectors, enabling quick installation in multi-axis platforms where limited space and efficient cable routing are important. The permanent-magnet rotor and electronic commutation support responsive torque control across changing speed and load conditions.
The motor body measures 84 mm across the frame, a size that balances torque output with compact envelope constraints. Power and feedback are routed through two SpeedTec Ready connectors, eliminating hardwired pigtails and simplifying cable attachment. Rotor length index 2 increases magnetic stack depth for applications that need higher continuous torque without changing the frame size. Position data is generated by an EnDat 2.1 optical encoder, and its interpolation uses 512/2048 lines per revolution to provide high-resolution feedback for smooth servo loops. The encoder model is ECN1113/1313, which is compatible with standard Kollmorgen feedback interfaces. Because the unit is supplied without a brake, drive holding current or an external clamping device must retain the shaft when power is removed.
The feedback section uses a single-turn optical design, so absolute position is retained over one revolution without multi-turn gearing. An IEC accuracy N flange provides the concentricity and runout tolerances needed for precise shaft alignment with compatible gearboxes. Torque is transmitted through a shaft keyway, providing positive engagement with pulleys or rigid couplings. The keyed connection helps prevent angular slippage when the motor accelerates or reverses under load. The stator uses winding e, which provides the voltage constants and continuous current characteristics needed for the intended bus supply and thermal limits. Matching the drive parameters to this winding supports stable current regulation during continuous and intermittent operation.
