It converts commanded current into tightly regulated rotary motion for indexing conveyors, robotic joints, packaging machinery, and other motion-controlled equipment. The motor is supplied without a brake, so an external clamp must hold the load when power is removed. Drive torque can provide holding force while the servo system remains energized.
