The AKM31H-SSS22-02 servo motor is produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This brushless unit converts drive current into rotary motion for precision axes in packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and semiconductor tooling. It supports closed-loop motion on digital drive systems through a hybrid power and signal interface. By combining a permanent-magnet rotor with precise electronic commutation, the motor delivers steady torque and speed control while fitting compact machine layouts where installation space is limited.

The motor includes a 24 V holding brake that clamps the shaft when control power is removed, helping prevent unintended load movement during a power loss or stop condition. A special connector arrangement combines brake, power, and feedback conductors in one keyed receptacle, which keeps external wiring consolidated at the motor. Rotor position is measured at 2048 lines per revolution by a Comcoder device, giving the drive high-resolution incremental data for smooth interpolation. The housing uses a special flange for customized mounting patterns while keeping the stator cross-section at 70 mm. Rotor length index 1 gives the motor a shallow stack and helps keep inertia low for small axis assemblies. The shaft uses a keyless design for direct coupling to miniature gearboxes. Feedback data are transmitted in the EPC 15T serial format for compatibility with Kollmorgen AKD controllers. The H winding code matches the electrical design to standard bus voltages and supports a balance between torque output and thermal rise during continuous duty.
