Product Description:
The AKM31H-ACG22-02 is a brushless AC servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. The unit converts drive current into precise rotary motion for axes that demand deterministic positioning, speed following, and low settling time in industrial automation lines. Its electromagnetic package, mechanical interface, and feedback electronics are combined so the motor can be fitted to IEC-style gearboxes or directly coupled to loads without additional transmission stages.
A factory-installed 24 V holding brake secures the shaft when power is removed, helping prevent drift on vertical or suspended axes. Power, feedback, and brake conductors are routed through 2 SpeedTec Ready connectors, which use a quarter-turn locking collar to reduce connection time and provide repeatable shielding. The integrated encoder delivers 2048 lines/rev of incremental resolution, giving the drive controller 8192 quadrature counts for smooth velocity loops. This sensor is a Comcoder, combining an optical grating with Hall tracks so start-up commutation data is available before fine position information is read. Its feedback is limited to a single-turn optical range, which keeps position reporting within one mechanical revolution.
Command values from the drive are interpreted through the encoder protocol code EPC 15T, allowing parameter compatibility with Kollmorgen AKD and third-party controllers that read this code. The motor mounts to machines by means of an IEC flange with accuracy N, which helps keep the stator aligned within standard concentricity limits. Overall package size is based on a 70 mm frame, the internal rotor length index of 1, and the H winding used with typical 230 V class drives, giving moderate continuous torque while keeping inertia low. Output torque is transferred through a shaft machined with a keyway for use with standard hub couplings and belt pulleys.
