Product Description:
The AKM31E-ANCNEM-02 is a brushless synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It converts controlled current from a matched drive into precise torque and rotational speed for positioning gantries, indexing tables, and compact conveyors. By combining rare-earth magnets with a high-density stator, the motor delivers fast dynamic response during repeated starts, stops, and speed changes. Its short overall length helps it fit into densely packed machine frames where nearby axes, guards, and cable paths limit available installation space. This compact form is useful in packaging, assembly, and electronic inspection equipment that depends on repeatable motion.
The motor is supplied without a brake, so holding torque must come from the drive or from an external clamp when the axis is stopped. Power and feedback connect through 2 SpeedTec Ready connectors, which use a quarter-turn bayonet design for quick cable attachment and secure engagement. Separate connection points help keep wiring organized when the motor is installed on crowded multi-axis plates or inside narrow machine sections. Machine mounting follows the IEC with accuracy N flange pattern, providing predictable alignment for couplings and gearheads. The housing width of 70 mm gives the motor a mid-size footprint that still supports side-by-side placement where installation space is limited.
The code rotor length index 1 indicates the shortest magnetic stack in this frame class, which helps keep rotor inertia low and supports quick acceleration. Torque production is set by winding designation e, which pairs with low-voltage AKD drives for high current bandwidth. A smooth shaft at the front end supports compression-style clamp couplings and helps reduce wear that can occur with splined connections. This shaft style also simplifies use with hubs that rely on frictional clamping rather than keyed engagement. The overall configuration is well suited to compact axes that require responsive motion and a small motor envelope.
