Product Description:
The AKM31E-ACCNC-01 is a brushless servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. As a member of this product family, it provides precise torque generation for closed-loop axis control in automated machinery. Its stator windings use the internal E designation, matching drive parameters for medium voltage and current ranges. Supplied without a brake, the motor relies on the external drive to apply dynamic stopping torque when power is removed, making it suitable for installations that already use mechanical holds or vertical load counterbalances.
Electrical connectivity is arranged through two SpeedTec Ready connectors, simplifying tool-free cabling and allowing quick attachment in compact machine spaces. The connector arrangement keeps power and feedback terminations organized at the motor body, which helps preserve routing clearance around nearby axes. The housing has a shaft seal, so oil or coolant splashes cannot migrate toward the front bearing during normal operation. Position information is captured through 4 lines of incremental data from the integrated SFD sensor, and that device provides single-turn inductive feedback, which avoids the battery maintenance associated with multi-turn encoders. This feedback method gives the drive stable commutation data and avoids the fragility commonly associated with optical disks.
The feedback package occupies the Size 10/15/21 envelope, allowing short connector backshells inside tight cabinets. An IEC flange with accuracy N centers the frame accurately on gearboxes or adapter plates, and the square stator measures 70 mm across, which supports dense multi-axis layouts where mounting space is limited. Power is transmitted through a keyway machined on the shaft, and the rotor length index of 1 keeps the overall mass low for rapid acceleration. The compact square frame also leaves room for adjacent motors, couplings, and cable exits in closely packed assemblies. This layout suits machine sections where several axes must fit within a short span.
