Product Description:
The AKM23D-ACB2C-00 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It converts drive current from a matched amplifier into precise rotary motion for indexing tables, packaging axes, and other closed-loop automation tasks that demand high torque density and repeatable positioning. In packaging axes, indexing tables, and similar automation equipment, the motor helps the control system maintain commanded speed and stopping accuracy over repeated cycles. Its brushless design supports smooth low-speed control and rapid response during repeated starts and stops. Its compact housing also suits machines where several servo axes are mounted close together on the same frame.
A frame size of 58 mm gives the motor a compact square housing that fits tightly spaced axes. The mounting face uses an IEC flange with accuracy class N, allowing direct alignment with compatible metric gearheads or machine plates. Power and feedback connections are routed through two SpeedTec Ready connectors, so the cable interface locks quickly and maintains a secure fit. The connector layout keeps both interfaces on the housing for straightforward cable routing. Winding code D identifies the electrical characteristics used by the matched drive, and rotor length index 3 increases the active stack length for higher continuous torque. The encoder communicates over SFD and provides 4 lines of digital position data to the drive.
Axis holding is provided by a 24 V holding brake that helps keep the shaft at standstill when required. Position feedback is single-turn inductive, and the encoder is listed as Size 10/15/21 for this sensor format. This arrangement gives the drive absolute position information within one shaft revolution without requiring an optical measuring system. Torque is transmitted through a keyway in the shaft, allowing hubs or couplings to seat positively on the output end. A keyed shaft can be used with mating parts that require positive torque transfer rather than a clamp-only connection.
