Product Description:
The AKM23C-BNGNAA-HG is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen and belongs to the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed as a rotary actuator for closed-loop motion systems, it converts drive current into precise torque and speed. This allows indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and packaging spindles to follow programmed trajectories with minimal following error. It is well suited to compact axes that demand accurate response during repeated motion cycles.
This model is supplied without a brake, which means holding torque must be provided by the drive or by a mechanical lock when power is removed. Electrical power and feedback are routed through 2 SpeedTec Ready connectors, allowing tool-free quarter-turn locking. The built-in position sensor provides 2048 lines/rev of native resolution; interpolated by the drive, this supports fine velocity and position loops. Data is transmitted through a BiSS B encoder interface, giving deterministic, bidirectional communication between the motor and controller. Because the sensing element is a single-turn optical feedback device, absolute position is retained within one mechanical revolution without the added mass of multi-turn gearing.
Signal formatting follows the AD34/AD58 code family, so compatible Kollmorgen drives can identify the motor parameters automatically. Mechanical attachment is handled by a NEMA flange, which supports mounting on common 2.25-inch square patterns. The stator outer dimension is a 58 mm frame, giving a compact cross-section for equipment with tight centerline spacing. A rotor length index 3 core increases stack height compared with shorter variants, raising continuous torque without enlarging the mounting face. The motor also uses a smooth shaft and a C winding designation, which support rapid duty cycles without keyway fretting.
