The AKM22G-ENCN2-00 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed as a compact rotary actuator, it converts drive current from a matched amplifier into controlled torque and precise angular position for pick-and-place heads, indexing tables, and other motion axes in automated machinery. By integrating rotor, stator, and optical feedback into one sealed package, the unit simplifies installation, reduces external component count, and permits direct coupling to the driven load in compact machine layouts.
This motor occupies a 58 mm square frame, allowing close-center mounting in multi-axis assemblies. Its electromagnetic circuit follows the G winding, establishing voltage and current constants compatible with low-to-mid voltage drives. Position data are generated by an optical encoder that yields 2048 lines/rev; when interpolated, the quadrature signals provide fine velocity regulation. Power and feedback exit through 2 SpeedTec Ready connectors that use bayonet locking for quick, tool-free cabling. A smooth shaft eliminates keyway stress and mates with clamp or collet hubs to minimize backlash in precision couplings.
The motor ships without a brake, so external holding devices are required if vertical axes must remain fixed after power is removed. Its combined incremental and absolute feedback device is a Comcoder; this single-turn optical system supplies both differential encoder channels and an index pulse for homing routines.
