The AKM22G-BSC22-02 is a brushless synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen and supplied as part of the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for tightly regulated positioning loops, it provides a compact frame for small pick-and-place axes, indexing tables, and electronic assembly equipment. Its low-inertia design supports rapid acceleration and responsive motion when connected to a compatible servo drive. The motor converts controlled electrical current into precise rotary motion for applications that require repeatable position, speed, and torque control.
A built-in 24 V holding brake secures the shaft when brake power is removed, helping prevent load drift on vertical axes. Power and feedback are routed through two SpeedTec-ready connectors, whose keyed design supports secure cable connections and straightforward routing. A Comcoder feedback device delivers 2048 lines per revolution of incremental resolution, supporting smooth velocity control at low speeds. The feedback system interfaces directly with Kollmorgen AKD and similar compatible drives. With a square face measuring 58 mm, the motor occupies limited installation space while providing housing surface area for heat dissipation. The encoder electronics follow the EPC 15T format, allowing the drive to receive digital A/B/Z channels and UVW commutation tracks without additional signal converters. A special shaft configuration accommodates couplings or pulleys that do not use standard keyway dimensions.
Mechanical mounting follows a NEMA flange pattern, allowing the motor to attach to compatible gearheads and mounting brackets. The electromagnetic design uses winding code G, which establishes the electrical characteristics required by the matched drive. Magnetic stack depth is indicated by rotor length 2, providing a balance between torque capacity and rotor inertia for moderate load profiles. Position feedback is produced by a single-turn optical sensor that tracks motion over one shaft revolution. The optical arrangement supplies precise feedback for commutation and closed-loop motion control. The nonstandard shaft configuration can support specialized mechanical interfaces where common keyed or smooth shaft options are unsuitable.
