Product Description:
The AKM22C-BNBN2-01 is a compact synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop motion tasks, it delivers precise torque and speed control when paired with a digital drive, enabling positioning, indexing, and velocity regulation in automated packaging cells and light assembly stations. Its electrical and mechanical interfaces follow the conventions used throughout the series, supporting consistent cabling and mounting layouts. The permanent-magnet design provides responsive operation for machinery that requires controlled acceleration and repeatable positioning.
The motor is supplied without a brake, so holding torque must be managed by the drive or external mechanics. Power and feedback lines exit through two SpeedTec-ready connectors, which accept keyed quick-lock plugs for secure cable attachment. A fitted shaft seal guards the front bearing against coolant and dust ingress. Rotor position is measured by a Comcoder that delivers 2048 lines per revolution of incremental data and absolute position information through its single-turn optical track. This feedback arrangement provides fine resolution while retaining position information within one mechanical revolution. The encoder electronics follow the EPC 15T profile for signal processing by the paired digital drive.
The motor uses a NEMA flange that matches standard gearboxes and direct-drive mounting plates. Its square frame measures 58 mm across, providing a compact footprint for side-by-side installation on multi-axis fixtures. A smooth shaft simplifies attachment to compliant sleeves or clamping hubs while minimizing fretting under low-torque operation. Internally, the stator uses winding C, which balances continuous current capacity and thermal rise when combined with rotor length index 2 and the series’ high-density laminations. The compact frame leaves space for adjacent equipment while permitting direct alignment with compatible couplings. Heat generated during repeated indexing passes through the motor housing to the surrounding air and mounting structure.
