The AKM21S-ANMNR-03 is produced by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Classified as a compact brushless servo motor, it is installed in automation lines where accurate speed and position control are required for conveyors, pick-and-place axes, and small gantry stages. By converting commanded current from a compatible Kollmorgen drive into mechanical rotation, the motor couples directly to the load and supports closed-loop motion sequences in packaging, electronics assembly, and light material-handling equipment. Its compact design makes it suitable for machines with limited installation space and closely arranged motion axes.
The motor is supplied without a brake, so any application that needs power-off holding must rely on an external clamp or holding torque from the drive. For feedback, a shaft-mounted resolver generates analog sine-cosine signals, and its winding is configured with 2 poles to support velocity and position detection. The square housing measures 58 mm across the frame, allowing installation in compact machine assemblies or multi-axis arrangements. A smooth shaft eliminates keys and splines, providing concentric engagement with split-clamp couplings and reducing cumulative runout in precision stages. This shaft design also allows the connected coupling to grip the output surface evenly without requiring a keyed interface.
The feedback package follows the Size 10/15/21 envelope and is implemented as a single-turn inductive feedback device. This arrangement provides the drive with the rotor angle within one mechanical revolution while avoiding optical components. The motor’s mounting face uses an IEC flange with accuracy class N, keeping alignment tolerances compatible with suitable gearheads, machine plates, and belt-drive assemblies. The unit also has a special winding, indicating that its stator coils are tailored for nonstandard voltage or torque requirements. The resolver provides robust feedback in operating environments where vibration, dust, or temperature changes could interfere with more sensitive sensing technologies. Its brushless construction reduces wear because electronic commutation replaces the physical brushes and commutator used in conventional direct-current motors.
