Product Description:
The AKM21G-BNPNC-00 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. As a frame-mounted rotary drive, it converts electrical current into precise mechanical motion for indexing tables, light conveyors, and compact robotic joints on industrial automation lines. The motor supports controlled torque, speed, and position when paired with a compatible servo drive. Its compact format allows it to operate in machinery where available installation space is limited. The framed housing also protects the internal stator and rotor while providing a rigid mounting surface for accurate shaft alignment.
The mechanical interface uses a NEMA flange and has a frame dimension of 58 mm, enabling direct coupling to compatible gearboxes or machine plates without adapter rings. Position data are generated by the integrated SFD feedback device, which sends 4 lines of differential signals to the drive. The single-turn inductive transducer reports absolute position within one mechanical revolution without relying on batteries or optical discs. Its inductive operating principle provides resistance to electrical noise in industrial cabinets and machinery. The encoder uses the size 10/15/21 format, which corresponds to its connector and housing arrangement. The motor is supplied in the standard configuration, with established component dimensions and pin assignments for integration with compatible Kollmorgen equipment.
The motor is delivered without a brake, making it suitable for axes that rely on drive torque or an external clamp to hold their position at rest. Torque is transmitted through a smooth shaft, which avoids keyway stress concentrations when used with a clamp-style coupling. The motor uses winding code G, which indicates coil impedance and current characteristics suited to low-voltage, high-speed operation. Its rotor length 1 provides the shortest magnetic stack configuration available for this motor family. This short rotor arrangement reduces the motor’s axial length and mass, making it practical for mobile equipment and space-restricted tooling. An external holding device is required when the connected load must remain stationary after motor torque is removed.
