Product Description:
The AKM21G-BNM22-00 is a compact synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It functions as the direct-drive element in machinery that requires precise position and velocity control, allowing motion controllers to regulate miniature conveyors, indexing tables, and electronic assembly heads without mechanical backlash. Permanent-magnet excitation and a low-inertia rotor let the motor follow rapid current commands, helping shorten settling times and increase throughput while keeping cabinet space to a minimum.
A factory-installed 24 V holding brake locks the shaft whenever power is removed, preventing load drift on vertical or safety-critical axes. Mounting follows the NEMA flange pattern, allowing installation in equipment that uses standardized face dimensions. The housing has a 58 mm frame dimension, providing adequate torque density while keeping mass low for highly dynamic operation. Within the stator stack, rotor length index 1 indicates the shortest magnetic core offered for this frame, which lowers inertia and reduces peak current demand. The motor has winding designation G, allowing the paired drive amplifier to apply the appropriate voltage range for rated torque. A smooth shaft is supplied, so couplings or gearheads must rely on frictional or clamp engagement instead of a key.
Position feedback is generated by a Comcoder assembly that delivers an incremental resolution of 2048 lines per revolution. Inside the sensor, an EPC 15T optical disk registers changes over a single-turn optical scale, providing one absolute reference per revolution for homing routines. The standard customization level means that no special seals, coatings, or connectors have been added, making the motor suitable for general indoor industrial environments. The feedback system provides the motion controller with detailed position data for accurate speed regulation and repeatable axis movement. The smooth shaft permits secure attachment through a properly sized clamping coupling, while the integrated brake holds the connected load when motor power is unavailable. This arrangement keeps the load-side interface mechanically simple without sacrificing position feedback or static holding capability.
