Product Description:
The AKM21G-BNBN2-00 is a compact synchronous servo motor built by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It couples with digital servo amplifiers to deliver controlled torque and velocity in automated machinery. Its compact design supports indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and light-duty packaging equipment where accurate positioning and responsive motion are required.
The motor uses a Comcoder sensor that supplies incremental position data at 2048 lines per revolution. This resolution supports tight velocity loops and repeatable positioning within a small mechanical envelope. The single-turn optical encoder tracks shaft position within one mechanical revolution and provides the feedback required for closed-loop motion control. Power and signal conductors terminate on two SpeedTec-ready connectors, allowing compatible cable sets to be secured with a quarter-turn motion. The front flange uses NEMA mounting geometry, allowing direct attachment to compatible gearboxes or machine plates. The motor is supplied without a brake, so drive torque or an external clamping device must hold the axis when power is removed.
The motor has a frame outside diameter of 58 mm, making it suitable for installations with limited mounting space. Output torque is transferred through a smooth shaft, which accommodates hub-style or clamping couplings without requiring a keyed connection. The encoder uses the EPC 15T protocol identifier for compatibility with Kollmorgen AKD drives configured for this feedback type. Internally, winding code G identifies the stator arrangement that establishes the motor’s electrical behavior, including its voltage constant. Rotor length index 1 keeps rotational inertia low, supporting rapid acceleration and deceleration during short positioning cycles. The motor is supplied at the standard customization level without application-specific modifications.
