Internal Product Review
The AKM21E-ENCN2-00 is a Kollmorgen AKM synchronous servo motor built in a standard configuration with a smooth shaft. The Comcoder feedback system and 2048 lines/rev resolution provide crisp position feedback for stable servo response. Two SpeedTec Ready connectors support efficient installation, while the single-turn optical feedback remains a strong fit for precise positioning.

Product Description:
The AKM21E-ENCN2-00 servo motor is manufactured by Kollmorgen and belongs to the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. In industrial automation, it delivers controllable torque and speed for small gantry axes, labeling heads, indexing tables, and other applications that require accurate rotary motion. Its electrically commutated architecture eliminates brush wear and permits rapid acceleration cycles that shorten overall machine cycle times.
The unit occupies a 58 mm square frame and carries rotor length index 1, the shortest magnetic stack offered for its frame size to minimize inertia. Power and feedback signals exit through two SpeedTec-ready connectors, which use quarter-turn locking mechanisms for quick and secure cable connections. The motor uses winding code E, providing a current-to-torque relationship suited to compatible low-voltage AKD drives. A stainless-steel smooth shaft transmits torque through a clamping coupling without requiring a keyway. The motor is supplied with no holding brake, so an external holding device must secure a vertical load when motor torque is unavailable. Its standard configuration supports installation without requiring a customized mechanical or electrical arrangement.
Position information is generated by a Comcoder that combines an optical disc with a resolution of 2048 lines per revolution. This single-turn optical encoder reports absolute angular position within one mechanical revolution but does not store the number of completed revolutions. It uses the EPC 15T feedback format to send incremental and absolute signals to compatible Kollmorgen digital drives for motor commutation and closed-loop control. The encoder receives power directly from the drive and does not require a battery. Its incremental track allows the control system to monitor rotational movement and respond to speed or feedback-signal errors. The combination of optical position feedback and the selected motor winding supports responsive torque regulation while keeping the feedback connection straightforward.
