Product Description:
The AKM21E-EFMNR-00 is a brushless synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for closed-loop industrial automation tasks that demand precise velocity and torque control, such as indexing tables, small robotic axes, and packaging machinery. By combining a high-energy permanent-magnet rotor with integrated position feedback, the unit converts drive current into tightly regulated shaft motion that can be coordinated across multi-axis systems.
This model is delivered without a brake, so static holding torque must be provided externally when the drive is de-energized. A square frame side length of 58 mm minimizes the motor footprint while accommodating common coupling patterns for size 23 equipment. Internal sensing is handled by a resolver with 2 poles, providing absolute angular feedback within each shaft revolution and maintaining operation across a wide temperature range. The mechanical stack uses rotor length index 1, the shortest available length for this frame. This arrangement keeps rotational inertia low and supports rapid acceleration in pick-and-place equipment or small conveyor axes that require quick responses rather than maximum continuous power.
The motor has a standard configuration, with no special shaft, seal, or mounting alterations applied. Its feedback element is a single-turn inductive device, so the drive receives an absolute position within one mechanical revolution without multi-turn memory. The feedback housing follows the Kollmorgen envelope coded Size 10/15/21, providing the required mechanical fit for the installed sensor assembly. Electromagnetic behavior is identified by winding code E, which indicates the stator wire gauge and number of turns used to match the motor’s nominal torque and electrical characteristics to compatible drives. The low-inertia rotor supports responsive speed changes, while the resolver supplies the shaft-angle information needed by the drive for electronic commutation and closed-loop regulation.
