Product Description:
The AKM21E-ANCNC-00 is a compact synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Built for tightly controlled positioning and velocity loops in automated assembly, inspection, and miniature handling axes, the unit fits a 58 mm frame. It mounts to an IEC flange with accuracy class N, allowing direct coupling to compatible gearheads or machinery without adapters. A smooth shaft transmits torque, and two SpeedTec-ready connectors simplify cable installation and disconnection. Because the motor is supplied without a brake, holding force must be provided by the drive or external mechanics.
The windings carry a continuous stall current of 3.11 A rms, producing a continuous stall torque of 0.5 N·m while the stator remains in thermal equilibrium. With a 120 VAC supply, the rotor reaches a rated speed of 7000 rpm and delivers a rated torque of 0.41 N·m. The winding has an inductance of 5.2 mH and a DC resistance of 3.42 Ω, which affect current rise and copper loss in that operating range. When the bus is limited to 75 VDC, the rated operating point shifts to 2000 rpm and 0.48 N·m, supporting closed-loop servo operation on lower-voltage platforms. Winding designation E is paired with a back-EMF constant of 10.2 Vrms/krpm. The rotor inertia is 0.0000107 kg·m², allowing rapid acceleration with minimal controller gain adjustment. The rotor length index is 1, representing the shortest active stack in the AKM size 2 family and reducing reflected mass.
Short-term overloads are supported by a peak stall torque of 1.49 N·m at a peak stall current of 12.4 A rms. During rapid indexing, the shaft can reach a maximum speed of 8000 rpm. The motor has a torque constant of 0.16 N·m/A rms, providing predictable torque in relation to applied current. Position feedback comes from a battery-free SFD resolver with four-line, single-turn inductive sensing in a Size 10/15/21 package. This feedback system provides high noise immunity for operation near switching electronics and motor power cables. The motor uses the standard configuration, with an IEC flange and SpeedTec connector orientation that follow the baseline dimensions for AKM installations.
