Product Description:
The AKM21C-ANS2GB-02 is a compact synchronous servo motor manufactured by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It serves as a torque and positioning element in industrial automation, converting drive current into controlled rotary movement for indexing tables, pick-and-place axes, and other closed-loop systems. The motor uses a short rotor stack designated by length index 1, providing low inertia so that commanded speed and position changes can be carried out with minimal lag.
Its integrated 24 V holding brake secures the load whenever the drive is disabled, preventing drift on vertical axes or in applications subject to external forces. Position feedback is supplied by a Hiperface encoder that works with drive controllers supporting synchronous serial communication. The sensing disk provides 128 lines per revolution, and the optical multi-turn stage counts revolutions so that absolute position is retained after power loss. The motor body fits the 58 mm frame class, balancing torque capacity with a compact envelope for tight machine layouts. A smooth shaft allows backlash-free clamping couplings or hubless pulleys to be mounted without a keyway.
A special connector arrangement groups the power, brake, and feedback plugs on one face to simplify cable routing in confined machine installations. The mounting face uses an IEC flange with accuracy class N, allowing the servo motor to connect directly to planetary gearboxes and spacers that share the same pilot diameter. The encoder housing contains an SKM36 sensor core that handles serial communication and multi-turn counting. Phase conductors use the C winding designation, providing resistance and inductance values suited to compatible medium-voltage AKD drives while keeping the temperature rise within the permitted operating range.
