Kollmorgen manufactures the AKM21C-ANMNC-00 as part of its AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This compact brushless unit is a rotary servo motor intended for closed-loop motion axes in industrial automation equipment such as pick-and-place heads, miniature conveyors, and laboratory actuators. By receiving current from a matched drive and providing position feedback, it converts electrical energy into precisely controlled torque and speed. This operation supports repeatable positioning and consistent velocity profiles in multi-axis machines.
The housing width is 58 mm, so the motor fits narrow equipment frames. A smooth shaft eliminates keyway stress and accommodates clamp couplings for low-backlash power transmission. The motor uses an IEC flange with accuracy N, allowing the pilot to be aligned without additional centering rings. Thermal and electrical behavior is associated with the C winding, which has a specific back electromotive force constant for this motor configuration. Mechanical power density is influenced by rotor length index 1, the shortest stack in the AKM2 frame. The unit is supplied without a brake, so an external device must provide holding torque when power is removed. All parameters are delivered at the Standard customization level, with the standard sealing and connector arrangement for this model.
The motor integrates Kollmorgen’s SFD feedback, a resolver-based device that encodes position over 4 lines of differential signals for noise-resistant communication with the drive. It uses a single-turn inductive sensor, so absolute position is retained within one mechanical revolution without batteries or mechanical gear trains. The feedback body follows the Size 10/15/21 dimensional code, allowing the use of standard hybrid connectors while keeping the overall motor length compact. The feedback signal helps the drive regulate commutation during acceleration, deceleration, and steady-speed operation. Absolute position data are available immediately after power-up within the retained mechanical revolution, eliminating the need for a battery-backed feedback system.
