Product Description:
Kollmorgen manufactures the AKM21C-ANCNDB00 servo unit for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. The model is a low-inertia brushless AC motor designed for closed-loop control of small conveyors, indexers, and robotic joints. By pairing with a compatible digital drive, it converts commanded current into proportional torque, allowing precise speed and position regulation that is essential to automated packaging, electronics assembly, and material-handling equipment.
The motor connects to power and feedback lines through two SpeedTec-ready connectors, a keyed arrangement that shortens installation time and prevents incorrect wiring. Its square housing measures 58 mm across the frame, so it mounts directly to machinery that follows IEC drilling patterns. Alignment is maintained by an IEC flange with accuracy class N. A smooth shaft transfers torque without a keyway, favoring clamp couplings that minimize backlash. Position information is supplied by an EnDat 2.1 encoder, referenced internally as EQN1125/1325. The electronics use the standard customization level, so the motor has no optional sealing or special coatings. Winding designation C sets the stator impedance and current rating for 230-volt-class servo amplifiers.
Inside the encoder, a glass scale delivers 512/2048 lines per revolution, and the counting electronics track positions over multiple revolutions. This continuous range is enabled by the multi-turn optical feedback architecture. Because the motor is supplied without a brake, the axis must rely on drive torque or an external holding device when power is removed. Dynamic output is influenced by rotor length index 1, the shortest magnetic core offered for this frame size, which provides low inertia for quick acceleration. The short rotor supports rapid changes in speed during repetitive indexing or robotic movement. Clamp couplings can attach directly to the smooth shaft while maintaining accurate alignment and low rotational play. The compact housing also helps the motor fit into tightly spaced machine assemblies where available mounting area is limited.
