Product Description:
The AKM21C-ACS2LB-02 is a brushless servo motor from Kollmorgen within the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop automation, the motor converts electrical power into precisely controlled torque and position for axes that require high accuracy. Its compact construction allows direct coupling to machinery and provides a standardized drive element for packaging equipment, semiconductor systems, and general motion platforms. The permanent-magnet rotor and electronic commutation support responsive acceleration, stable speed regulation, and repeatable positioning during automated operating cycles.
The motor includes a 24 V holding brake that clamps the shaft whenever power is removed, preventing vertical or overhung loads from drifting. Its windings use designation C, with resistance and inductance values matched to medium-voltage drives. Power and feedback cables exit through a special connector arrangement, simplifying cable routing where installation space is limited. Rotor position data are produced by an EnDat 2.1 encoder that communicates with the drive electronics and supports bidirectional parameter exchange. Inside the encoder, a digital scale supplies 16 or 32 lines per revolution before interpolation. A multi-turn inductive counter retains absolute position across 4,096 mechanical revolutions without requiring a battery, allowing the control system to recover the recorded shaft position after power is restored.
The encoder uses an EQI1130/1331 sensor format for its physical encoder head, enabling compatible Kollmorgen AKD drives to recognize the feedback device. Mounting is provided by an IEC flange with accuracy class N, allowing installation with compatible 58 mm class servo motor interfaces. The square frame measures 58 mm across, reducing the installation footprint while accommodating rotor length index 1 for a balance of torque output and rotational inertia. Mechanical power is transmitted through a shaft with a keyway, providing positive engagement with pulleys, gearboxes, or rigid couplings. This positive shaft connection helps prevent rotational slippage when the motor repeatedly accelerates, decelerates, or reverses direction under load.
