The AKM13D-BNSNR-02 is a brushless servo motor built by Kollmorgen in the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for tightly coupled axes in packaging, electronics assembly, and small gantry modules, it converts drive current into controlled torque with high repeatability. Its compact geometry and electromagnetic design support fast acceleration profiles, making the motor suitable for closed-loop motion tasks where limited space and quick dynamic response are both important. In servo systems, that combination helps the motor follow rapid starts, stops, and short indexing moves without requiring a large mechanical envelope.

The stator frame measures 40 mm across the flats, so the housing fits narrow mechanical cavities while still providing useful thermal mass. The motor uses a NEMA flange for direct mounting to standardized gearheads or brackets, which helps simplify mechanical integration. Position feedback is supplied by a resolver with 2 poles, giving the drive two electrical cycles per mechanical revolution for commutation. Because the feedback device is inductive, it is well suited for installations where electrical noise can affect weaker sensor signals. The motor uses winding designation D, which indicates the coil pitch, resistance, and voltage constant expected by compatible drives.

The unit is supplied without a brake, so holding torque must be provided by the drive or an external clamp when power is removed. Power and signal lines exit through a special connector arrangement, which can simplify routing in compact control cabinets and other tight machine spaces. The feedback element is single-turn and inductive, and it uses the size 10/15/21 envelope. The motor has a rotor length index 3, which corresponds to a mid-range active length for this platform. A smooth shaft allows the use of clamp couplings where low backlash is needed, and it supports direct connection to compact transmission elements.
