Product Description:
The AKM12E-ASMNR-02 is a brushless servo motor produced by Kollmorgen for the AKM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This compact unit is intended for precision positioning and velocity control in industrial automation cells, pick-and-place axes, and light material-handling stages. Servomotors in this series pair with digital drives to deliver controlled torque and repeatable motion, allowing machine builders to simplify mechanical transmissions while maintaining precise motion profiles. Its integrated mechanical design allows direct coupling to small gearheads or linear actuators, which helps reduce the motor’s footprint inside crowded equipment.
Electromechanical feedback is supplied by a resolver with a base resolution of two poles. Because the sensor provides absolute position over one mechanical revolution, the motor uses single-turn inductive feedback, which requires relatively simple electronics and provides strong resistance to temperature changes. The feedback housing follows the Size 10/15/21 standard, allowing compatible cables and connectors to be used across related motors. The motor has a rotor length index of 2, indicating the magnetic stack depth used for this frame. Since the motor is supplied without a brake, any load-holding requirement must be met by drive-applied torque or an external locking device.
The mounting face uses an IEC flange with accuracy grade N, allowing direct installation on gearboxes and machinery that use the normal tolerance grade. The square frame measures 40 mm across, enabling dense multi-axis layouts in compact machines. Output power is transmitted through a special shaft, which has nonstandard features intended for an application-specific coupling arrangement. The exact shaft dimensions and interface requirements should be checked when selecting the mating component. A winding designation of e identifies the coil resistance and voltage pairing expected by compatible Kollmorgen drives. This winding allows the selected drive to supply current within the motor’s applicable electrical and thermal limits during controlled motion.
