Product Description:
The AKD2G-SPE-7V12S-A100-0000-A from Kollmorgen is a servo drive in the AKD2G Servo Drives series. This second-generation controller regulates three-phase AC motors in automated packaging, material-handling, and assembly equipment. By converting fixed mains voltage into a precisely modulated output, the unit closes the torque, velocity, or position loop commanded by a PLC or motion platform. Its cabinet-rated housing accommodates the space, thermal, and wiring constraints commonly found in control panels. Compatibility with Kollmorgen motors supports coordinated operation between the drive, motor, and feedback system.
The drive uses a single-axis architecture, with one inverter stage and one feedback channel dedicated to a single motor. It delivers continuous output current of up to 12 A RMS, supporting medium-torque servomotors during sustained operation. The input section accepts a 240 or 480 VAC three-phase supply, allowing direct connection to common industrial power systems without a transformer. For networked control, the integrated EtherCAT interface exchanges cyclic command and status data with a master controller in less than one millisecond. The safety hardware meets SIL 2 and PL d requirements and provides safe torque off with two safe digital inputs for controlled machine shutdowns.
Motion generation is handled by the internal position indexer with motion tasks, allowing the drive to execute point-to-point moves and blended motion profiles without external interpolation. The IP20 enclosure protects against accidental contact with energized components when the unit is properly installed inside a control cabinet. Field wiring connects to the standard X21 terminal set, and the included mating connector secures compatible factory-supplied harnesses. The hardware uses MAP Revision A, while the circuit boards retain a standard customization level. This arrangement keeps motor power, feedback, network communication, safety inputs, and control wiring organized around the dedicated single-axis power stage.
