Product Description:
The AKD2G-SPE-6V03D-A100-0000 is a dual-axis servo drive released by Kollmorgen within the AKD2G Servo Drives series. As a second-generation drive controller, it regulates torque, velocity, and position for two servo motors in industrial automation cells, allowing coordinated motion over real-time EtherCAT networks. The unit is housed in a compact enclosure that measures 235 mm high, 76 mm wide, and 221 mm deep without connectors, making it suitable for dense control cabinets. Its internal position indexer executes motion tasks locally, so a host PLC only needs to issue high-level commands.
At the core of its control loops, the drive closes the current loop at 3000 Hz and the velocity loop at 750 Hz, while it updates the position loop every 250 µs. These high update rates keep following errors low during fast motion profiles. The hardware accepts a nominal 120/240 VAC single- or three-phase supply, and its three-phase section delivers a continuous output of 3 A RMS per axis while permitting a peak output of 9 A RMS per phase for short accelerations. Because the platform is configured for dual-axis operation, both motors share the same DC bus and 15 kHz PWM stage, improving cabinet efficiency. Standard I/O on connectors X21 and X22 supports sensors and limit switches, while EtherCAT provides distributed clock synchronization with the PLC.
The enclosure carries an IP20 rating and is intended for installation inside a protective panel. Regenerative energy from decelerating loads is first dissipated by an internal resistor rated at 100 W, while transient braking power of up to 9 kW for 0.5 seconds can be routed to an external brake module through dedicated terminals. The safe torque off circuit and safe inputs reduce wiring complexity in machines governed by functional safety requirements. The safety system is rated for STO with SIL 2 and PL d, supporting controlled removal of motor torque when a safety function is activated.
